Yellow Trees in the Rain, 19 December 2014. (Weekly Photo Challenge: Yellow)

Standard

Good Evening:

I don’t know the name for these yellow-leaved trees on Polk Street, but when it rains, they really glow.

And the red and white? That’s just my little rebellion against the constraints of this week’s Challenge.

  2. Those are Ginko trees. Most companies planting them will claim they don’t need watering, not quite true young trees still water in the fall before the rains start. If the leaves start turning brown that is a sign of dehydration. Otherwise the leave turn a beautiful golden yellow. They also grow quite large, Tokyo has some huge beautiful trees.

    • Gilles: Huh! Those are Ginkos. That surprises me because the Ginkos I knew back on the East Coast stank like heck, and these don’t smell unpleasant at all. Thanks for the feedback. Vonn Scott Bair
